What is the real Chinese food?

    At first, I don’t know that Virginia Tech has the best restaurant and its food is no.1, and my mum thinks that I will always eat the hamburgers, fries and pizzas. My mum worries that I cannot adjust the American food, especially these fast food. But after two weeks’ observation, I think I have no problem with Virginia Tech’s food, and I can live well.

    Before I come to America, My parents are worried by two problems, they are security problem and food problem. For food problem, my parents want me to eat healthily and it is better for me to get away from the fast food, for example, the McDonald’s. In China, comparing with normal people, I am too fat. We all know that people will get fatter if they eat too much fast food, so my mum worries that I will be fatter and fatter in America and several years later, when I come back to China, no girl will marry with me, for I am too fat.

But now, my parents know that they don’t have to concern about the food, because I can eat healthily and I can adjust well.

    For I am a Chinese people, my favorite dishes are Chinese food. But, to be honest, Virginia Tech’s Chinese food doesn't taste well. Chinese food in Virginia Tech’s restaurant only has the color and shape compared with real Chinese food. For the reason why here’s Chinese food don’t have real Chinese flavor, because these Chinese food were not cooked by Chinese people and when they were cooked, the cook doesn't use the Chinese condiments.

    I think Chinese condiment play a very important role in Chinese food, and that is the reason why Chinese food is different with India food, Japanese food, Thailand food and many other countries’ food. There are 34 provinces in China, and Chinese people separate these provinces’ flavors into 8 categories. These 8 categories depend on different condiments to develop and finally be well- known to all people. Due to my ancients’ effort, we find different condiments from different places, such high mountains, deep sea and even dry dessert. So that’s the reason why Chinese restaurant can spread all around the world.

    In fact, when my Chinese friends and I want to eat the Chinese food, we will go to downtown, because there is a Chinese restaurant called Happy Wok. Two Chinese brothers run this restaurant, and when you come there, you will also their wives and daughters. Food in Happy Wok is nice, so even some Korean and Japanese people will come there to have meals.
